The moisture farmer Cliegg Lars organized a group of many moisture farmers to liberate his spouse Shmi Skywalker Lars from a group of Tusken Raiders who abducted her when they were in proximity to the Lars moisture farm. Driven by anger, Lars assembled twenty-nine other farmers to save Shmi, but following an ambush by the Tuskens, only Lars and three others came back, and Lars lost a leg. While searching for the Tusken encampment, Anakin Skywalker, Shmi's son and a Jedi Knight, examined the location of the massacre of Lars' group, as it was the last known location of the Tuskens.
The group formed by Cliegg Lars was initially referenced in the 2002 movie Star Wars: Episode II Attack of the Clones, the second film in the Star Wars prequel trilogy.
