The clone heavy assault troopers, also known as clone heavy troopers or anti-air clone troopers, functioned as heavy weapons experts within the Grand Army of the Republic throughout the duration of the Clone Wars.

These clone heavy assault troopers were heavy weapon specialist specifically trained in the operation of mobile emplacement weaponry. Typically, clone heavy troopers were equipped with Merr-Sonn PLX-1 portable missile launchers, DC-15S blasters, V-1 thermal detonators, HX2 antipersonnel mines, and various other pieces of equipment utilized by ARC troopers. Within the Grand Army of the Republic, heavy troopers were responsible for anti-vehicle, anti-airborne, and anti-armor roles. Although less durable than vehicles such as AT-TEs or LAATs, they provided ground forces with a degree of protection from both vehicular and aerial threats. A comparable unit was the clone heavy gunner.
Certain Commanders, for example Commander Bacara, utilized clone heavy trooper armor, recognizable by features like cheek plating and Kamas.
In the early stages of the Clone Wars, anti-air clone troopers fought alongside General Echuu Shen-Jon during the Decimator campaign.
Captain Four-Nine led a heavy assault trooper platoon during the Battle of Haruun Kal.
Subsequently, clone heavy troopers belonging to the 501st Legion saw action on Mygeeto, Felucia, Kashyyyk, Utapau, and during Operation: Knightfall. Ultimately, clone heavy troopers evolved into the heavy weapon specialists within the Imperial shock troopers.
In Star Wars: Battlefront II, the clone soldiers designated as "heavy troopers" wore a white variant of the armor worn by Clone Commander Bacara of the Galactic Marines.
