Clynese
Clynese, a 26-letter alphabetic writing system, was designed for the purpose of writing Galactic Basic Standard.
Description
Composed of both straight and curved brush strokes, along with dots, Clynese letters could be nested. The writing direction could be either vertical or horizontal.
Instances of Clynese Across the Galaxy

Dryden Vos owned a dataplaque in 10 BBY that featured the word "LIFE" written in Clynese, in addition to other words in both Clynese and Protobesh. This dataplaque was displayed within his study. Later, in 34 ABY, either this same dataplaque or one very similar was on display at Dok-Ondar's Den of Antiquities on the planet Batuu.
The words "PROPERTY OF HAN SOLO PLEASE RETURN" were inscribed in Clynese by hand on at least one of the Model CEC Class-1 escape pods of the YT-1300 light freighter Millennium Falcon. Rey Skywalker commented on the writing's poor quality in 34 ABY.
Behind the scenes
The name Clynese comes from James Clyne, the artist responsible for its development. According to Clyne in The Art of Star Wars: The Last Jedi, he and Rian Johnson considered the possibility of it being the Corellian alphabet.
Though initially created for The Last Jedi, which was released in 2017, Clynese was ultimately absent from that film. Clynese made its first on-screen appearance in a very brief shot within Solo: A Star Wars Story.
