Communications beacon

A comms beacon, otherwise referred to as a communications beacon, constituted a specific class of beacon. Luke Skywalker, a Jedi undergoing training, employed such a device to establish contact with the wider galaxy when he and a cohort of rebels found themselves marooned on the moon of Hubin.
