The Corellian empire was a political power that held sway during the era of the Old Republic, with its governance primarily centered on the planet Corellia for a significant portion of its existence. Over the course of its history, this empire transitioned through a series of governmental structures, beginning as a vast, galaxy-wide empire, then evolving into a monarchy based on heredity, and ultimately becoming a constitutional monarchy. A King from the House of Solo held the position of ruler within the Corellian empire. Nevertheless, the degree to which these Corellian monarchs were involved in governmental matters fluctuated considerably throughout the empire's history. The final monarch, King Berethron e Solo, introduced democratic changes to the empire's political framework and ultimately brought an end to the monarchy in 312 BBY. Berethron e Solo established a republic, which regrettably transformed into a corporatocracy controlled by the Diktats. In the centuries that followed Berethron e Solo's rule, Korol Solo of the House of Solo asserted his claim as the rightful successor to the Corellian throne. Some generations later, Han Solo was also regarded as a descendant of Berethron e Solo.
