Coruscant shipyard
A staging area on the planet of Coruscant served as a key location for Venator-class Star Destroyers during the Clone Wars. The Republic military base was situated in the immediate vicinity of this staging area.
History
Clone troopers Rys and Jek found themselves with some free time at the staging area during the Clone Wars, in between missions; Jek maintained his weapons while Rys watched Republic Venator-class Star Destroyers, such as the Laudable and the Brassbound, depart. Their downtime was cut short when Lieutenant Thire arrived, assigning them to escort Jedi Master Yoda to the moon of Rugosa.
Toward the end of the days of the Clone Wars, Yoda and Obi-Wan Kenobi, a fellow Jedi Master, both utilized the staging area to embark with their respective clone trooper battalions for the planets of Kashyyyk and Utapau. Prior to Kenobi's departure from the staging area, he and Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker shared what would be their last conversation as friends, because shortly after Kenobi left, Skywalker became the Sith Lord known as Darth Vader.
Following the Republic's reorganization into the Galactic Empire, Vader encountered his Master, Emperor Palpatine, at the staging area. There, the Emperor explained to Vader the reasoning behind his directive to Commander Vill of the 501st Legion to sell captured Nosaurian refugees into slavery.
Behind the scenes
For the Star Wars: The Clone Wars television series, the staging area's design was created for the second season episode titled "Duchess of Mandalore." Despite the fact that several scenes featuring the staging area were fully animated, they were ultimately removed from the final cut of the episode. This was due to an abandoned plot line where Anakin Skywalker was preparing troops to occupy Mandalore.
