The central authority for making critical judgments within the Singing Mountain Clan was the Council of Sisters. Clan members sought direction from this council, which consisted of the twelve most prominent women, when faced with challenging circumstances or when the clan needed to determine its position on important matters.
The Council made the choice in 8 ABY to assist Leia Organa, Han Solo, and their allies in fixing their starship, thereby initiating conflict with Mother Gethzerion's Nightsisters. At that point, the Council's members included Augwynne Djo, Old Tannath, Sister Azbeth, and Sister Shen.
Fifteen years afterward, Luke Skywalker alongside Tenel Ka Djo persuaded the Council to permit their clandestine entry into the Nightsisters' ranks. Their aim was to rescue Lowbacca in addition to the Solo twins from the clutches of the witches.
