The Crakull system represented a small star system located within the Unknown Regions. Within its boundaries existed the planet of Crakull, which served as the homeworld for the sentient Croke species. Approximately around 5 BBY, a Croke named Rokur Gepta, who was born on Crakull, managed to infiltrate the Sorcerers of Tund. This group, devoted to the dark side, operated from the planet Tund situated in the Outer Rim Territories.
Lando Calrissian, the Human gambler, had previously visited the Crakull system by 2.5 BBY, developing a negative opinion of the place. At some later time, the Croke settled on planets within the Unknown Regions area known as the Croke Reach, among these planets was Explume Minor.
The Croke's home star system received its first indirect mention in Lando Calrissian and the Starcave of ThonBoka, the 1983 novel that concluded The Lando Calrissian Adventures, a trilogy penned by L. Neil Smith. The 2002 reference work, The New Essential Guide to Characters, clarified that the Croke originated from the planet Crakull.
The Crakull system was formally introduced in the 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas, where it was located within grid square G-10. Jason Fry, co-author of the Atlas, has indicated that planets without an assigned star system in a published source are generally assumed to be situated in a system bearing the same name.
