Crix-class assault shuttle

The Crix-class assault shuttle, also known as the A-2s, served as an assault craft employed first by the Galactic Alliance and subsequently by the Galactic Alliance Core Fleet.

Characteristics

Due to their collaborative design process, the Crix-class exhibited features reminiscent of both CEC designs and Mon Calamari aesthetics. The exterior hulls reflected the Mon Calamari influence, while the interior layout, bridge configuration, and engine systems were distinctly Corellian in nature.

This vessel featured a robust armored exterior with a slender opening between its two halves, housing the engines, cockpit, and weaponry. A tall, slender fin was also present, affixed to the upper hull, containing advanced long-range communication systems. The A-2s boasted substantial firepower due to its heavy armaments and shielding. A ring of blaster cannons encircled the space between the armored sections, capable of automated fire or control by troops onboard. It also featured four boarding ramps to facilitate the swift deployment of troops and speeders. A modified version of this craft, known as the Crix-class diplomatic courier shuttle or Dc-4a, had reduced armor, shielding, and offensive capabilities.

History

This jointly engineered Crix-class was given its name in honor of General Crix Madine, a Corellian who fought for the Rebel/New Republic. This choice was made because of his Corellian origins, and in recognition of his efforts to protect Dac during the invasion carried out by the World Devastators over a century prior.
