The Cygnus Star Empire was an interplanetary nation that spanned the Oktos Route within the Mid Rim, situated immediately towards the galactic core from Hutt Space.
This Star Empire was strategically positioned along the Oktos Route that runs through the Mid Rim. The territory encompassed only a small number of star systems, spanning a few parsecs in width. Given its proximity, located coreward of Hutt Space, it's theorized that the territory was initially a gift presented to several of Xim's allies by the Hutt warlord, Kossak, during the period of the Xim Wars.
Within the Empire's boundaries were the headquarters of the ship manufacturing company, Cygnus Spaceworks. Furthermore, the region made use of Tionese lettering, mirroring the practices of the Cluster itself.
Evidently, the Cygnus Star Empire's origin can be traced back to the fan-created work titled Book of Imperial Shuttle Plans: Cygnus Spaceworks. This work was published nearly two decades before the name appeared in official canon. Within Imperial Shuttle Plans, the Cygnus Star Empire was linked to both "Cygnus Spaceworks" and a "Cygnus system." The Spaceworks was later acknowledged in canon, specifically within the Star Wars Technical Journal and the video game, Star Wars: TIE Fighter.
