Cynestra Space Craft Show

The Cynestra Space Craft Show was a demonstration of space craft that occurred during the timeline of the Galactic Civil War.

History

This exhibition of spacecraft took place in orbit above the planet of Cynestra. On the seventh day of the show, Elhon Tay from Tay Industries unveiled a single working model of the D-Wing Space Superiority Fighter. Tay's objective was for the Empire to purchase his design to replace the Imperial TIE fighters, which he viewed as having significant design shortcomings. Knowing that he needed to demonstrate the craft's value to secure a deal, Tay invested heavily in advertising to attract the attention of the Imperial Navy. Sienar Fleet Systems, the primary manufacturer of the Empire's TIE fighters, was not willing to be outdone by a smaller competitor. They dispatched secret operatives to the show with the intention of sabotaging the prototype before its public debut, but their efforts were unsuccessful.

Rogan B.B. Cham, a reporter for HoloNet News and also a spy working for the Rebel Alliance, was planning to attend the show. He soon discovered that a new and formidable starfighter was scheduled to be revealed. He contacted agents within Rebel Intelligence, who arranged for a Captain named Reeves to brief a group of Rebels at The Atomic Punk, an underground nightclub and clandestine Rebel base located on the planet Yukka. Reeves provided them with the necessary information to capture the D-wing prototype. The group then met with Cham, who transported them to the show aboard his ship, The Doobage, smuggling them inside disguised as cargo.

The group's assignment was to either capture or destroy the prototype, but they were not given a detailed plan of action, forcing them to improvise. This became problematic when Grand Moff Torith made an appearance, as he had also shown interest in the new starfighter. Elhon Tay intended to impress Torith with his fighter, hoping to secure a purchase and have it used against the Rebellion. The Rebel agents, however, were tempted to assassinate the Grand Moff immediately due to the problems he had caused the Rebel Alliance. They managed to restrain themselves and avoid detection for the following week. Ultimately, the agents succeeded in both eliminating Torith and stealing the prototype starfighter.
