Dahvil, a planet found within the Rayter sector, resided in the Outer Rim Territories. It is recognized as the birthplace of Jake Sirrom, a Human Wing Guard who served on the planet Bespin. During the era of the Galactic Civil War, Dahvil was the origin point for the Dahvil-Fodro Hyperspace Promenade, a well-known interstellar racing circuit. The racer Siro Simito, also a secret agent for the Rebel Alliance, once competed in this race. While at the staging area on Dahvil, he received a data module from a fellow Rebel operative, Kaini, for clandestine delivery to Fait d'Fait.
Dahvil was a planet located within the Dahvil system, which itself was situated in the Rayter sector of the Outer Rim Territories.
Dahvil was the home of Jake Sirrom, the son of Gem Sirrom, who was a senator in the Galactic Republic. Following the dissolution of the Senate, the Imperial successor to the Republic's Senate, in 0 BBY, Gem relocated Jake to the Outer Rim planet of Bespin to begin a new life. Subsequently, Jake became a member of the Bespin Wing Guard security force.

During the Galactic Civil War, Dahvil was where the well-known Star Rally interstellar racing route, known as the Dahvil-Fodro Hyperspace Promenade, began each year. At one point, shortly after the Star Rally races were made legal on Dahvil, the racer Siro Simito, who was also a Rebel Alliance operative working undercover, was assigned by the Alliance to transport a data module from Dahvil to a contact on the Mid Rim astronomical object Fait d'Fait while he was participating in the race.
As with similar missions, the Alliance arranged for the agent Kaini to give the data module to Simito. On Dahvil, Kaini pretended to be a holovid reporter from Ord Dorlass, a world in the Mid Rim. As part of the Rebels' planned performance, while Simito was walking through the large crowd at the race's staging area, Kaini and her cam droid, which had the data module hidden inside the casing of its supertelephoto lens, approached the racer. The supposed reporter pretended to interview Simito about his rivalry with the racer Seeg. Simito—acting as though he was annoyed by the constant mention of his rival—used his vibro-ax to cut off the cam droid's lens, and then picked it up after Kaini and the droid had left the scene.
Following this, Simito and the other pilots left Dahvil and headed toward Ord Dorlass, the first stop on the race. At some point shortly after the Battle of Yavin, General Airen Cracken of the Rebel Alliance included Simito's report, which mentioned the racer's visit to Dahvil, in a datafile that detailed various Rebel operatives.

Jake Sirrom, a Human, was born on Dahvil. Even though the Star Rally races were against the law on Dahvil during the Galactic Civil War, many people still came to watch the start of one of these races. At the race that took place after they were made legal, the crowd was twice as big. Even though they relied on holovids to stay up-to-date on the racing events, the spectators on Dahvil didn't like the holovid reporters, and they cheered when Siro Simito appeared to aggressively lash out at one. Despite this, Simito didn't have a large following on Dahvil.
Chuck Truett created Dahvil, and it was first mentioned in Cracken's Rebel Operatives, a sourcebook from 1994 by West End Games for Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game. In 2009, the reference book The Essential Atlas placed the Dahvil system, and thus Dahvil itself, in grid square J-19.
