Several hundreds of years following the establishment of the revived Sith Empire in 4980 Before the Battle of Yavin, Darth Lokess, the Sith's Dark Lord, suggested a scheme to her colleagues on the governing Dark Council of the Empire to depose the Sith Emperor. The other Council members concurred, but as they climbed the stairs of the Imperial Citadel to challenge the Emperor, he slayed all of them, sparing only Lokess, with a burst of light. Lokess was then imprisoned deep within the Citadel, where she was subjected to torture until she perished, and a replacement Dark Council was then chosen.
