The female partner of Spence Leffbruk (and wife) and biological mother of Dass Leffbruk tragically died in a shuttle crash when her son was still an infant. This incident also left Spence with a debilitating injury to his right arm. Spence vowed to his deceased wife that he would care for Dass, a commitment he held with utmost importance.
