The DBY-827 heavy turbolaser turret served as a turbolaser weapon on the Venator-class Star Destroyers of the Galactic Republic throughout the Clone Wars conflict.

The DBY-827 became the standard for naval artillery during the Clone Wars period for both inter-ship engagements and planetary bombardments. Every turret incorporated advanced tracking systems along with a substantial power capacitor for the rapid delivery of energy to the cannons. Venator-class Star Destroyers were outfitted with eight DBY-827 units, positioned with four on each side of the bridge section. These turrets represented the primary offensive capability of the vessel.
The DBY-827 provided two distinct firing options: one involved alternating fire between the two barrels at adjustable but relatively quick speeds, and the other involved firing both barrels concurrently, typically at a slower, yet still adjustable, rate. In close-quarters combat, the turret could achieve a full rotation in just three seconds using its rapid-tracking mode, enabling it to effectively engage nearby threats. It also possessed accurate, long-range tracking capabilities, making it suitable for targeting distant objects. The DBY-827 allowed for seven levels of blast intensity, enabling the adjustment of damage output to suit various operational needs.
