DD-BD

DD-BD was a WDD adminmech droid with masculine programming who managed the command center for mining activities on Kessel. Prior to his enslavement, DD-BD was part of the crew on a Morseerian pirate starship. The Empire seized this vessel, leading to DD-BD's discovery and subsequent sale at auction to the Pyke Syndicate for a pittance. He was then forced to work as a slave in the control hub of the planet Kessel's mining operations. In 10 BBY, a slave revolt in the mines, initiated by the droid L3-37, led to the removal of DD-BD's restraining bolt, thus liberating him. Being the first droid freed, DD-BD was instrumental in igniting the Kessel rebellion.

Personality and traits

DD-BD, like other adminmech droids, was designed to prioritize efficiency and meet quotas without questioning directives. He had an extremely enthusiastic disposition. However, his liberation by L3-37 instilled in DD-BD a newfound sense of rebellion and autonomy, which was rare for droids of his type.

Equipment

DD-BD's chassis consisted of a white plastoid shell, complemented by heavily weighted feet to improve his balance. He had a combination radar eye and [photoreceptor](/article/photoreceptor], along with an electroprobe that could deliver variable voltage shocks. During his time on Kessel, a powerful restraining bolt was permanently attached to his body, capable of either shutting him down or delivering shocks if he disobeyed orders.

Behind the scenes

DD-BD made his debut in the 2018 Star Wars Anthology movie, Solo: A Star Wars Story, and was one of the characters portrayed by Star Wars mainstay Warwick Davis.
