Deerian

Deerian was a male Human military general in the service of the Galactic Empire, reporting to Imperial Moff Glovstoak. He had a granddaughter who entered the world in 17 BBY via birth. In 0 ABY, Deerian was present at one of Glovstoak's social gatherings held within the Moff's palace, where he encountered Emperor's Hand Mara Jade disguised as "Countess Claria."

Mink Bollis, an aide of Glovstoak's, tried to escort the agent elsewhere; however, the general intervened, leading the Emperor's Hand to an office to isolate her from Bollis before rejoining the party. Shortly thereafter, he escorted Jade back to the party. Following the event, the Emperor's Hand journeyed to the planet of Coruscant, where she informed Palpatine that she had discovered Moff Glovstoak's embezzlement and that Deerian was a man of loyalty and honor, which led the Emperor to offer the general a position on Coruscant.

Biography

Encountering "Claria"

General Deerian protected Emperor's Hand Mara Jade (pictured) from Mink Bollis.

Deerian was a general of Human descent, serving in the Galactic Empire's military. He was part of Imperial Moff Glovstoak's organization, and his granddaughter was born in 17 BBY. In the year 0 ABY, the general was present at one of Glovstoak's parties. During the course of the gathering, he conversed with Emperor's Hand Mara Jade, who was using the alias Countess Claria. Jade spoke to the general about issues with pirates on her world, after which Deerian went to examine the party's buffet. While going to the buffet, he ran into Mink Bollis, one of Glovstoak's aides, and believed he could be of assistance to the Emperor's Hand's planet.

Deerian then connected Bollis with Jade, with the former suggesting they find a quiet place to discuss her troubles. The Emperor's Hand, who had consumed the drink ambrostine, pretended to be affected by it, showing a frown and acting unwell. The general noticed her performance, offering her a seat while Bollis volunteered to take her to a place to rest; however, Deerian, not wanting to leave Jade alone with Glovstoak's aide, reminded him of his duties to assist the Moff with the guests before escorting Jade to an office where she could relax.

A new assignment

After the Emperor's Hand expressed her gratitude to the general for separating her from Bollis, he replied that he wouldn't want her or his granddaughter to be alone with the aide. Deerian then left the office, instructing a pair of guards to stop anyone from approaching Jade before returning to the party. After leaving the office where Deerian left her, the Emperor's Hand went into Glovstoak's private quarters and acquired information indicating his embezzlement of Imperial funds before returning to the party and the general.

Following the party, she traveled to the Imperial capital planet Coruscant, informing Emperor Palpatine about Glovstoak's activities; she also told him that Deerian was a loyal and honorable Imperial, requesting that the emperor not punish him when his superior's staff was arrested. Palpatine then reassigned the general to Coruscant, making him a member of a team responsible for improving the planet's planetary defenses. Jade later encountered the general in Coruscant's Imperial Palace, where he told her about his new role before leaving for a meeting.

Personality and traits

Jade believed the Empire was worth defending as long as it could produce individuals like Deerian. She viewed the general as thoughtful, loyal, and honorable, and didn't want the Empire to lose his service. Deerian was proud of his position on Coruscant and was surprised upon learning of Glovstoak's arrest. When he took Jade to the office for her to rest, he mentioned that the office's couches were "the thing" for quick naps. The general appeared older than Bollis, and, to Jade's astonishment, managed to stop Bollis by quickly moving the Emperor's Hand away from the aide. Despite serving Moff Glovstoak, his allegiance remained with the Empire.
