Sabine and Zeb using a deflector core against droidekas on Geonosis
A deflector core represented the fundamental, central mechanism within a deflector shield generator. Back in 2 BBY, the Spectres, namely Sabine Wren and Garazeb Orrelios, managed to extract such a core from a Deflector shield generator located on the desert planet Geonosis. This very deflector core was then utilized by them as a defense against a number of droidekas. Subsequently, Commander Jun Sato gave the Spectres praise for their acquisition of a fresh deflector core intended for use at Chopper Base.
