Derra'makin held the position of Grand Daern for the Marasan civilization. As the leader of the Marasan government, known as the Mindnet, he made choices using data provided by the Electnodes, who were lower-ranking, elected Marasan representatives. Similar to nearly every Marasan, he existed as a cyborg, possessing a complex computer system embedded within him, which facilitated both communication and swift calculations.
After the Galactic Empire successfully subjugated the Marasan population residing on Marasai and their settlements dispersed throughout the Marasa Nebula, Derra'makin was compelled to escape. He remained in secrecy on one of the colonial planets throughout the Imperial reign.
