The Mindnet served as an interconnected web, joining the cyborg augmentations present within all Marasans, forming a unified communications platform. This setup enabled each of the Marasan's chosen representatives, known as Electnodes, to gather and assess citizen viewpoints, as well as engage in policy discussions among themselves, all while having near-instantaneous access to updated data. Subsequently, the Marasan's chief leader, who held the title of Grand Daern, compiled this data and rendered the ultimate decision. This type of system resulted in rapid and effective policy formulation. The singular downside was the promotion of an inactive way of life for Marasan politicians, which in turn, fostered widespread obesity.
Following the Galactic Empire's seizure of the Marasan's primary planet, Marasai, alongside the other Marasan settlements within the Marasa Nebula, the Mindnet and the Grand Daern were divested of their authority in political affairs. The Grand Daern at the time, Derra'makin, was forced into a life of banishment, finding refuge on one of the outlying Marasan colonial planets.
