Design Team Beta was a carefully chosen group of four experts employed by the Hydrospeare Corporation during the era of the Galactic Empire. This team was under the leadership of Tolum Harous, and its other members consisted of Diran Miciluz, Mosara Thiirn, and Sere Lure. Prior to the year 1 ABY, Dr. Plo Smarx was in charge, but he was apprehended by Imperial forces and subsequently replaced by Harous.
Design Team Beta engineered both underwater vehicles and armaments for the Imperial Army. They were credited with the creation of some of Hydrospeare's most celebrated creations, such as the Explorer Submergible, the Imperial seatrooper armor (with input from Dr. Nashiak Llalik), and the AT-AT swimmer (though the latter was a collaborative effort with Kuat Drive Yards).
The high standard of Design Team Beta's output resulted in the Empire tasking Hydrospeare with approximately two dozen new initiatives around 2 ABY, leading certain Rebel officers to speculate that the Empire was attempting to reclaim Mon Calamari.
