Di Mantid

Di Mantid hailed from the planet Coruscant and was a Human female. Along with her companions Nyrat Agira and Wilst Molan, she frequented the Outlander Club, which was located in the Uscru Entertainment District on Coruscant, with the intention of finding a wealthy and influential partner. In the year 22 BBY, she happened to be present in the club concurrently with bounty hunters Jango Fett and Zam Wesell. Subsequently, she was in the club on the same evening when Wesell sought refuge there, attempting to evade the Jedi pursuers Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker.

Biography

A Human female native to the planet Coruscant, Di Mantid possessed a refined appreciation for fashion. Approximately a decade after the Battle of Naboo, Mantid became a regular at the Outlander Club, situated within Coruscant's Uscru Entertainment District. Mantid, along with her associates Nyrat Agira and Wilst Molan, formed a habitual group that visited the establishment with the hope of securing a rich and powerful spouse. In 22 BBY, Mantid found herself within the Outlander Club at the same time as the bounty hunters Jango Fett and Zam Wesell. During a night not long after, in the same year, Mantid, Agira, and Molan were present inside the Outlander Club. While there, she tried to outshine Agira's appearance. Although her attire was attention-grabbing, it was not a match for Agira's.

Di Mantid walked past Anakin Skywalker.

When the Jedi duo Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker entered the club, searching for Wesell, who had fled into the club to escape them, Mantid engaged in conversation with two Humans near one of the club's turbolifts before departing. As Skywalker searched the club for Wesell, Mantid passed him while holding a drink. As Wesell was escorted out of the club after being disarmed, Mantid stood at the bar, positioned between a Human and a Klatooinian, and gazed at Skywalker. Subsequently, Mantid turned her attention to the Human.

Personality and traits

Mantid maintained an acquaintance with Nyrat Agira and Wilst Molan. Despite their apparent friendship, a fierce rivalry existed among the three for the informal title of "best dressed Outlander patron," an honor frequently claimed by Agira. Mantid possessed light complexion and brown irises.

Equipment

Di Mantid typically applied substantial facial cosmetics, including blue lipstick and silver rouge. During her visits to the Outlander Club, Mantid donned a sleeveless dress crafted from wroosha fabric, paired with black pants, black shoes, mascara, silver rouge, grey-blue lip paint, and a blonde wig fashioned from Human hair. Despite its appeal, her outfit didn't pose a significant challenge to Agira's ensemble.

Behind the scenes

Di Mantid was conceived for the prequel trilogy film Star Wars: Episode II Attack of the Clones, which premiered on May 16, 2002. The scenes within the Outlander Club, where Mantid was portrayed by an uncredited extra, were filmed at Fox Studios, Sydney on July 17, 2000. The actress embodying Di Mantid, in costume, introduced the fourteenth installment of the Episode II behind-the-scenes video series on location. Prior to the film's release, Mantid was identified in the StarWars.com article "Making Up is Hard to Do: Lesley Vanderwalt," published on February 15, 2002. The character made her initial appearance in the film's accompanying storybook, authored by Jane Mason and Sarah Hines Stephens, the young readers book Jango Fett: Bounty Hunter, penned by Eric Arnold and illustrated by Valerie Reckert, and was featured in a picture within the film's junior novelization written by Patricia C. Wrede. All books were released on April 23, 2002. The images of her in the Jango Fett: Bounty Hunter and the junior novelization were sourced from the then-upcoming film.

In the April 6, 2004, article "Who's Who in the Outlander Club: It's Ladies' Night," featured in the seventy-fifth issue of the Star Wars Insider magazine, author Daniel Wallace remarked that Mantid was difficult to discern in the film and possessed an amount of mascara comparable to Tammy Faye Bakker.
