Divviks were diminutive, gray-colored, and perilous entities. These creatures, equipped with numerous eyes and formidable claws, were native to a planet located within the Outer Rim Territories.
The Hutts regarded their egg-shaped chrysalises as a culinary treasure. However, upon emergence, these creatures transformed into highly poisonous and insatiably hungry menaces. Resistant to blaster weaponry and capable of inducing paralysis in most species through their venom, divviks exhibited a preference for consuming live prey. It was rumored that their acidic saliva possessed the ability to dissolve plasteel, and the act of crushing one would unleash noxious fumes. A Jedi's lightsaber was capable of sealing any openings. Divviks would implant their larvae directly into the brains of living organisms.
Approximately six months before the Invasion of Naboo, a consignment of around two thousand divvik chrysalises found themselves aboard a freighter held in orbit above Tatooine, destined for delivery to Jabba the Hutt. Unfortunately, the grubs had reached an advanced stage of development, leading to their premature hatching. The entire crew met their death, leaving only Sylvn, the daughter of Jedi Knight Ki-Adi-Mundi; her romantic partner, Maj-Odo-Nomor; her companion, Twin; and the Chevin smuggler Ephant Mon, concealed within an escape pod, as the sole survivors. Ki-Adi-Mundi arrived in his starship and made an attempt to affect a rescue. Mon menaced them by activating the pods thrusters, with the intent of causing it to explode against the sealed external hatch. Maj was shot, but Ki-Adi-Mundi manually opened the hatch, thereby saving them.
