Diyu was a world positioned along the Shag Pabol hyperlane, linking it with both the Rorak system and the planet Ylesia; it resided in the Diyu system of Hutt Space, a region of the galaxy's territory, and was classified as a planet.
For centuries, Diyu functioned as a significant industrial hub, its operations heavily dependent on the use of slave workers. The Anjiliac kajidic, a family group belonging to the Hutt species, exerted power and control over this planet. When Hutt Space was invaded by the military of the extra-galactic Yuuzhan Vong people, Diyu managed to avoid being conquered by them.
The initial reference to Diyu occurred in The Essential Atlas, a reference book from 2009 that was jointly created by Jason Fry along with Daniel Wallace; this book located the planet at coordinates S-12.
