A combat encounter, specifically a dogfight, happened in the Maw. In this engagement, Jedi Master Jaina Solo, flying the infiltration ship known as Rude Awakening, exchanged fire with the Sith Meditation Sphere Ship. The Ship was being controlled by Abeloth, who was the last surviving member of the Ones. The close proximity of two black holes restricted movement, resulting in a prolonged exchange of weapons fire. While both ships sustained damage, neither was destroyed before Abeloth met her end, which forced Ship to retreat. Following this, Solo successfully located Jedi Knight Ben Skywalker on Abeloth's planet, and Ship recovered the Lady Vestara Khai from the planet's surface.
