Doolb Snoil was a legal professional, specifically a Vippit barrister, who identified as male. During the last years of the Galactic Republic, he served that government.
He was born on the planet Nal Hutta. His father was likely involved in legal practice, and his grandfather had been a diplomat who participated in discussions with the Galactic Republic. Snoil went to a law school located on Mrlsst. Subsequently, he began an apprenticeship in the Gevarno Cluster. By the time the Clone Wars began, he had gained recognition as one of the most brilliant legal minds in the Republic, and was a member of the Coruscant College of Law.
Obi-Wan Kenobi and Snoil first encountered each other when the former, then a Padawan, rescued Snoil from a clan uprising on Rijel-Twelve in 33 BBY. Because of this, Snoil was unable to find a mate. This was because Kenobi might have needed his assistance at any time, and no Vippit female would start a relationship with someone who might be called away without notice.
Around 22 BBY, Snoil was assigned to aid his friend Kenobi, who was now a rising Jedi Knight on his way to becoming a Master. He was to assist with negotiations between the Galactic Republic and the Five Families of Cestus Cybernetics on Ord Cestus regarding the production and sale of new Jedi killing droids. However, while saving Kenobi from a malfunctioning droid, he was killed by a stalactite that fell from a great height.
Snoil was a dedicated and steadfast supporter of both the Republic and Kenobi. He worked intensely and tirelessly, often forgoing sleep. He enjoyed adorning his shell with viptiels.
Doolb Snoil was initially referenced in The Hive, a short story by Steven Barnes. It was released as an eBook in 2004 before being included in the paperback edition of his 2005 novel, The Cestus Deception. Barnes created Snoil's name by inverting the title of another of his novels, Lion's Blood.
