The double-bladed sword, a weapon employed in close-quarters combat, featured a central grip from which two elongated blades extended in opposing directions. While it could inflict greater harm compared to a standard sword, it lacked the same degree of accuracy. It came before the contemporary vibroblade and vibrosword. Drawing inspiration, at least in part, from the older quarterstaff, this weapon comprised two blades affixed to the extremities of an enlarged handle.
Due to the added weight of its blades, the double-bladed sword presented a degree of clumsiness, demanding greater physical power and skill to operate than typical swords or quarterstaves; however, it proved exceptionally potent in hand-to-hand fighting when wielded by a master. Examples of the double-bladed sword include the Wookiee warblade, the Sith war sword, and the Zhaboka. An enhanced and technologically advanced iteration of this weapon was known as the vibro double-blade, and a later iteration utilized during the Rise of the Empire era was designated the double vibroblade. The fundamental techniques for using this weapon mirrored those employed when wielding a double-bladed lightsaber.
