Dox Ocean

One of the two great oceans gracing the planet of Lazerian IV, the Dox Ocean was recognized, along with its counterpart, the Caz Ocean, by the native amphibious Akwin species as "Father Ocean." Moreover, it teemed with diverse aquatic organisms, vital to both the Akwin and the local Human population as a source of sustenance.

Description

The planet Lazerian IV was home to the Dox Ocean. Situated to the east of the Doxet continent, and in opposition to the Caz Ocean to the continent's west, the Dox Ocean dominated the eastern portion of the eastern hemisphere, stretching to both planetary poles. It extended to the western shoreline of the Laz continent in the western hemisphere and completely encompassed the Torm and Elgar continents. The Akwin, the native amphibious species, collectively referred to both Caz and Dox Ocean as "Father Ocean." Tormaine, Lazeria City, and Devit—cities bordering the Dox Ocean's coastal waters—included Tormaine on Torm and Lazeria City and Devit on Laz.

Both oceans were abundant with marine life, including a variety of aquatic plants, numerous sea creatures of varying sizes, and coral. The Lazerians, the human inhabitants of Lazerian IV, engaged in fishing to harvest marine life for consumption, and the Akwin also depended on this marine life as a food source. Beneath the ocean surface lay a multitude of Akwin city-states, shielded from Lazerian detection by an abundance of minerals that interfered with sensor scans.

Behind the scenes

John Terra conceived of the Dox Ocean, which debuted in Twin Stars of Kira, a 1993 supplement for Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game by West End Games.
