Dren Melne's Melne family included a brother, younger than him, who eventually became a Shaak wrangler.
As was typical for members of his family, the younger brother developed a deep dislike for Dren Melne after Dren chose to abandon Naboo and pursue a career as a mercenary and fighter pilot. This disdain was so intense that his father would later remark on Dren's return home years later, noting that he was clad in a black Flight suit and carrying a Blaster pistol instead of a Hunting rifle.
In 33 BBY, Dren betrayed the Royal Space Fighter Corps by attempting to pilfer N-1 starfighters and N-X Police Cruisers for Governor [Challep] of Agamar. He met his end at the hands of his own hired help, who killed him for failing to deliver on his promises.
Essara Till, who was his lover and wingman, delivered the information to his family as part of her investigation. The family was uncooperative; instead, Dren's younger brother threw her out of their home and pursued her into the street, with his parents' approval. Essara Till formed the opinion that the family's hostile treatment of Meln contributed to his decision to betray Naboo.
