The Droid Control Army, a diminutive unit comprising a dozen droids, belonged to and was utilized by Groodo, a Hutt. However, Hurlo Holowan, Groodo's droid engineer aboard the Sun Runner (a counterfeit transport), secretly manipulated and commanded them in an attempt to seize control of Fondor Spaceport during 23 BBY.
This force was composed of droids generally considered harmless and commonplace throughout the galaxy, the type one might expect to find on any space station under typical conditions. This innocuous appearance facilitated their easy entry into the spaceport. The unit included: one altered GNK power droid concealing a rapid-repeating blaster within its upper chassis; six significantly modified FX-series medical assistant droids equipped with various lethal weapons instead of medical instruments and mounted on treadwell bases for improved movement; and five astromech droids enhanced with plasma fusion-cutters and periscopic micro-laser cannons.
A Jedi team, dispatched on a mission to Fondor, ultimately thwarted Groodo's scheme and dismantled the army, largely due to the actions of Jedi Master Mace Windu.
