A Droid Repair Shop was situated on Yavin 4, which is a moon orbiting the planet called Yavin. This establishment featured shelves stocked with pre-owned droid components, including heads. In the year 5 ABY, the New Republic utilized this shop to prepare the droids C-3PO and R2-D2 for a clandestine mission targeting the planet Kessel. While inspecting droid parts within the shop, the Jedi Luke Skywalker attempted to allay C-3PO's worries regarding the mission.
Skywalker chose a droid head with a sinister appearance for C-3PO to employ as a disguise; however, the droid expressed his dislike for its green hue. Disregarding the droid's protests, Skywalker then used an inter-office communications device to summon the Droid Modification Team, comprised of 2-1B surgical droids, to finalize C-3PO's disguise. These droids returned accompanied by R2-D2, who had already been altered to resemble a Kessel mining droid, and then escorted C-3PO away. After an hour spent implementing the modifications, Skywalker and the droids departed from the Droid Repair Shop to attend a mission briefing.
The junior novel The Glove of Darth Vader, penned in 1992 by Paul and Hollace Davids and featuring illustrations by Karl Kesel, showcased the Droid Repair Shop.
