Duneclaw

The duneclaw, alternatively named a guuria, existed as a non-sentient animal on the planet of Tatooine. Due to its preference for hunting around cliffside caves and other shadowy, confined locations, it was infrequently observed in the deserts of the planet. Its ability to use echolocation for navigation in low light, along with its capacity to detect sound waves produced by other organisms, contributed to this preference.

Despite a resemblance to a manka cat in its physical form, the duneclaw differed significantly from the Alderaanian feline. Specifically, it was a reptilian, solitary, and omnivorous creature. Furthermore, it was hypothesized to share a distant relation with the wraid.

The duneclaw possessed a remarkably resilient hide covered in armor-like plates, along with a dense skull capable of fracturing Human's bones and breaking stone with a mere headbutt.

Behind the scenes

The duneclaw made its initial appearance in the video game Star Wars: The Old Republic, which was launched by BioWare in 2011. Nevertheless, the duneclaws found on Tatooine utilized the manka cat character design. The accurate model was introduced to the game with the release of the Rise of the Hutt Cartel Digital Expansion, applied to a creature type known as a "Guuria" on Makeb. This inconsistency was later addressed in the Flashpoint Czerka Core Meltdown, where the Guuria model was used for an "Enhanced Duneclaw" enemy.
