The governing group for the Red or Elder Rakata was the Elder Council. In the time leading up to, and during, the Old Sith Wars, the council's members formed an alliance with Revan, also known as the Dark Lord of the Sith. A key responsibility of the council was to safeguard the knowledge of the Ancients, keeping it secure within the Temple of the Ancients and away from groups such as The One's Rakatan tribe.
