Eliad

Eliad was a planet situated within the Minos Cluster, notable for being a haven for affluent nobles in exile.

Description

Eliad's environment was incredibly diverse, showcasing nearly every type of biome imaginable. Although its population was small compared to core worlds, the inhabitants were exceptionally rich, and the landscape was dotted with opulent palaces, grand villas, and elaborate castle replicas. The planet's trade was limited to mineral exports. The incredibly wealthy nobles, lacking meaningful ways to spend their fortunes, indulged in increasingly elaborate and depraved forms of entertainment driven solely by boredom. Despite their isolation from mainstream aristocracy, generations of familial heritage, combined with access to the galaxy's finest education, ensured that these nobles were as intellectually refined as they were financially privileged.

History

Before the Rebellion era, the Battle of Eliad stood out as a crucial conflict within the Minos Cluster Campaign during the Great Galactic War. The planet held significant strategic importance as a key stronghold within the Minos Cluster region.

Later, when Emperor Palpatine seized control from the Old Republic and established his Empire, he systematically removed numerous nobles from their positions of power. However, instead of executing them and creating martyrs, he offered them a deal: in exchange for permanent exile, they could retain a substantial portion of their wealth and perceived status. While some chose to flee or face death rather than submit, a significant number of noble families accepted the agreement. A massive exodus ensued, relocating them from the Empire to the relative obscurity of the Outer Rim. Ultimately, three hundred thousand nobles, along with their organic servants and a vast number of droids, were resettled on Eliad, where they were intended to slowly decay under the burden of their own worthlessness and irrelevance, precisely as the Emperor had planned.

During the Galactic Civil War, Rebel agents aiding Princess Leia conducted numerous discussions aimed at persuading these ousted nobles to support the Rebel Alliance. After several weeks, the nobles consented to assist the Alliance. This much-needed infusion of capital brought the Alliance closer to establishing peace and justice throughout the galaxy.
