The Elrood system, a star system, existed within the Elrood sector in the Outer Rim Territories of the galaxy. It was situated along the Elrood-Derilyn Trade Route. Notably, the sector capital planet Elrood was located within this system.
The roleplaying reference book Planets of the Galaxy, Volume Three, released in 1996, marked the initial mention of the Elrood system. The 2001 LucasArts video game Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds featured an Imperial campaign where the Empire discovered information regarding a Rebel base in the Elrood system during the battle of Zaloriis. A subsequent level incorrectly identified it as Echo Base on the planet Hoth, placing it within the Elrood system, which contradicted the original trilogy film Star Wars: Episode V The Empire Strikes Back. The game's Hoth databank entry specified that the planet resided in a system bearing the same name.
