Emma Mieko Candon

Born in Hawaii, Emma Mieko Candon is a writer and editor of Japanese and American heritage. Their debut novel, Ronin: A Visions Novel, which ties into the Star Wars: Visions short film "The Duel", was released by Del Rey on October 12, 2021. It marks both their first published book and their entry into the Star Wars universe.

Candon identifies as a queer, chronically ill cyborg, elements they incorporate into their writing, especially in Ronin. They draw inspiration from figures like Akira Kurosawa, a key influence on Star Wars creator George Lucas, as well as Japanese folklore, period dramas, and the impact of war.
