Energy pummel
Energy pummels, frequently shortened to just pummels by soldiers, were substantial, tank-like siege engines employed by a multitude of organizations, civilizations, and factions, starting from the era preceding the Clone Wars and continuing throughout the Galactic Civil War.
Imperial pummels
Pummels made use of potent, short-range laser panel arrays. These arrays were used to erode enemy defensive structures, such as walls, anti-personnel turrets, and even localized ground-based shields. This erosion enabled lighter units and infantry to penetrate fortified locations and engage deeply entrenched enemy combatants. Despite their heavy armor, pummels suffered from slow speed and vulnerability to attacks from both land and air. To mitigate these weaknesses, pummels were typically deployed into combat either under heavy guard or after the enemy's mobile forces had been neutralized or diverted.
There existed two variations of the energy pummel: a standard model and a more robust heavy model. The heavy version was larger, possessed thicker armor plating, and delivered more significant damage due to the inclusion of a greater number of, or larger, laser panels.
Wookiee pummels
In terms of functionality, the pummels utilized by various factions such as the Rebel Alliance, the Empire, the Wookiees, the Trade Federation, the Grand Army of the Republic, and the Royal Naboo Security Forces were nearly identical, differing only in appearance. This uniformity also extended to their heavier counterparts. The only exception to this trend were the pummels provided to the CIS by the Corporate Alliance; these vehicles were modified by Geonosian engineers to achieve enhanced speed.
The Gungans of Naboo employed a living organism known as a Cerrabore to fulfill a similar role as a pummel, with larger specimens acting as a substitute for the heavy pummel variant.
These vehicles bore a strong resemblance to the aquatic destroyers deployed in aquatic environments, which employed comparable laser panels to effectively disintegrate enemy vessels at close proximity.
Behind the scenes

Pummels are featured in the 2001 video game Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds, alongside its 2002 expansion, Clone Campaigns. The Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds: Prima's Official Strategy Guide showcases a picture of the Wookiee Energy Pummel as a representative illustration of this unit type.
