Equanus, situated within the Outer Rim Territories, was a planet. It existed as one of the five planets that comprised the Nharl system.
The Galactic Republic conducted a test of a planet-killing weapon on the star Nharl in 23 BBY. This weapon was a precursor to the Death Star Project. The test resulted in an extremely powerful solar flare that inadvertently extinguished all life on Equanus, in addition to destroying the weapon and the personnel conducting the test. Only the Equani who were not on the planet at that moment managed to survive. The Equani scientists recognized the planet's destruction far too late, and the planetary communication channels were filled with Equani bidding farewell to one another.
