In the year 23 BBY, a superweapon capable of destroying planets was being tested by the Galactic Republic on the star known as Nharl. Due to the test, an enormous solar flare was triggered, resulting in the unintentional annihilation of all life on the planet Equanus, along with the destruction of the weapon itself and the individuals conducting the test. The only Equani who survived were those who happened to be away from their homeworld when this occurred. Tragically, Equani scientists recognized the impending destruction of Equanus too late, and the planet's communication channels became overwhelmed with farewell messages as the Equani bid each other goodbye for the last time.
