Escape pod 4 functioned as a rescue craft located on the spaceship known as the Timespan.
Stuart Zissu, C-3PO, 4B-X, and R2-D2 utilized escape pod 4 to make their getaway from the Timespan after it had been invaded by Imperial stormtroopers who were in search of Zissu's father, Governor Trux Zissu. The coordinates for Delantine, which should have already been programmed into the control system, were missing. Due to gravitational forces, the escape pod was ultimately drawn toward Da'nor. The fuel supply depleted, which resulted in the crew being forced to execute a crash landing on Da'nor. During their entry into the atmosphere, C-3PO, 4B-X, and Stuart successfully deployed an emergency parachute along with wings to reduce their speed.
After the escape pod had crashed, R2-D2 took off a section of the hull to repurpose it as a sled for carrying equipment. Given that the ground was blanketed in snow, pulling the sled proved to be a simple task. Furthermore, the parachute was also stored away to be used as a blanket for Stuart.
