The BD unit, a model of explorer droid
A type of droid known as an explorer droid was utilized to aid individuals in hazardous or isolated environments. A prime example is the BD unit, specifically engineered to assist explorers or researchers working independently in the field. BD-1, a BD unit, served as a companion to both Eno Cordova, a Jedi Master, and later, Cal Kestis, a former Jedi Padawan.
These droids were built with the capacity to collect and retain data. Kestis was able to receive information about scanned objects from BD-1. Furthermore, BD-1 had the ability to project holograms of his previous master, which were stored within him. In 9 ABY, BD-72 displayed holographic construction blueprints for an N-1 Starfighter to Din Djarin, the Mandalorian bounty hunter.
