The N-1 starfighter piloted by Din Djarin, alternatively referred to as The Mandalorian's N-1 starfighter, was a significantly altered N-1 starfighter that Din Djarin acquired after the Razor Crest was destroyed. To replace his lost ship, Djarin collaborated with Peli Motto, a skilled technician, to construct the N-1 starfighter.

Din Djarin's N-1 starfighter underwent several modifications by Djarin and Motto, intended to boost its speed capabilities. Larger models replaced the original laser cannons, and the torpedo launcher positioned under the nose was kept. The front cones of the engines were taken off, but Motto installed at least one cone on the front of each wing. The panels underneath the cockpit and at the tail of the craft were removed during the modification, leaving only the frame. A Kineso-switch was added by Motto, allowing the starship to utilize its induction intake charger, enabling incredibly fast travel. Given Djarin's dislike of droids, Motto replaced the astromech socket with a small compartment for passengers and a clear observation dome.
A turbonic venturi power assimilator originating from a Galactic Republic-era starfighter took the place of the ship's vapor manifold. The thrust capacitor featured an induction intake charger that Motto custom-built, and a cryogenic density combustion booster sourced from a Pyke repulsortrain was added to the rear thruster. Almost all of the yellow paint was removed, with only a few stripes remaining on the wings as a homage to the Razor Crest.

In 9 ABY, Din Djarin arrived at Hangar 3-5 situated in Mos Eisley on Tatooine, prompted by a message from Peli Motto concerning a replacement for the Razor Crest after its destruction. Initially hesitant, Djarin consented to assist Motto in reconstructing the ship, aided by her droids and with parts obtained from a couple of Jawas. Motto also implemented several modifications to enhance the ship's speed. Despite his initial reservations, Djarin developed an affinity for the ship during the rebuilding process, and he grew to appreciate it after a trial run. Peli utilizes her MPH power droid to assist in charging the starfighter.
Once the ship was finished, Djarin conducted a test flight through Beggar's Canyon, observing that the handling felt rough until he accelerated, after which it demonstrated exceptional maneuverability. The ship proved to be highly agile and smooth at high velocities.

After his canyon run, Djarin piloted the ship beyond the atmosphere and into space, flying in close proximity to a passenger liner. This action drew the attention of two New Republic patrol pilots in T-65B X-wing starfighters, who intercepted him and requested that he activate his beacon. He was informed that such close proximity to a commercial vessel was forbidden. Following a brief exchange, he activated the kineso switch installed by Motto, causing the starfighter to accelerate so rapidly that one of the New Republic patrol pilots believed he had initiated a hyperspace jump. Djarin then returned to the hangar, impressed with his new spacecraft. There, Fennec Shand approached him with an offer to assist Boba Fett in his fight against the Pyke Syndicate. Djarin agreed, but only after delivering a gift to Grogu.

Djarin used the fighter to travel to Ossus, where Luke Skywalker was training Grogu and constructing what would become a Jedi academy. R2-D2 guided him to a landing spot near a body of water, close to where numerous ant droids were building a domed structure from stone pieces. After a period of waiting, he was greeted by Ahsoka Tano, who persuaded Djarin to leave the gift with her to avoid disrupting Grogu's training. Djarin reluctantly agreed and returned to Tatooine as Grogu watched from afar.

Djarin flew the fighter to Tatooine and landed inside Jabba's Palace garage. A Gamorrean guard greeted him and informed him that Fennec Shand requested his presence. Djarin attended a meeting with Fett's forces, where Shand introduced him and explained that they needed foot soldiers if war broke out. Djarin offered to arrange that. He flew his ship to Freetown and landed at the end of the town's main street. Deputy Scott noticed Djarin and quickly demanded he park the ship in the flats. Djarin ignored the request and stated he was there to see Cobb Vanth, prompting Scott to hover his hand over his blaster. The marshal dismissed Scott, greeted his old friend, and expressed admiration for Djarin's customized fighter. After Djarin made his request to the marshal, he left Freetown in his ship.
Djarin fought alongside Fett in the war against the Syndicate. During the battle, Djarin reunited with Grogu, who chose to abandon his training with Skywalker and return to the Mandalorian. Fett, Djarin, and their allies ultimately succeeded in driving the Pykes off the planet. Djarin departed from Tatooine with Grogu in the small pod seat built into the ship. Grogu tapped the dome of the seat, which Djarin initially refused. Grogu persisted until Djarin relented, stating it would be the last time. He flipped a switch, causing the ship to accelerate rapidly, eliciting a squeal from Grogu.
Eventually, Djarin, piloting his N-1 starfighter, journeyed to a Children of the Watch refuge situated on a planet and assisted the Mandalorians in defeating a reptilian creature that interrupted a Mandalorian initiation ceremony. He landed his ship and entered the cave refuge, where he met the Armorer. He inquired about how to atone for breaking the creed by removing his helmet in front of others. She told him about the Living Waters located in the Mines of Mandalore, where he could bathe to be redeemed. However, she believed the mines had been destroyed during the Great Purge of Mandalore. Djarin showed her a Mandalorian inscription recovered from Mandalore, suggesting that the planet might not be completely destroyed.

Din Djarin's N-1 starfighter made its debut in "Chapter 5: Return of the Mandalorian," the fifth episode of The Book of Boba Fett, a live-action television series. Jon Favreau wrote the episode, Bryce Dallas Howard directed it, and Disney+ aired it on January 26, 2022. Christian Alzmann, Ryan Church, Anton Grandert, and Doug Chiang created the concept art for the starship's appearance in The Book of Boba Fett. Chiang was the original designer of the N-1 starfighter for Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace. The idea of customizing a vehicle with speed enhancements in a garage setting with a mechanic drew inspiration from the film American Graffiti, directed by George Lucas.
