The Battle of Tython represents a conflict that transpired on the world of Tython. This engagement saw Din Djarin, the Mandalorian, alongside his comrades Boba Fett and Fennec Shand, facing off against a remnant force of the Galactic Empire under the command of Moff Gideon. The events unfolded during the New Republic Era, specifically in the year 9 ABY.
This battle was depicted in "Chapter 14: The Tragedy" of the The Mandalorian television series, a Disney+ program from 2019 created by Jon Favreau. Favreau penned the episode, while Robert Rodriguez took on the role of director. It was released on December 4, 2020. To pre-visualize the fight between Din Djarin, Fennec Shand, and Boba Fett against Gideon's Imperial forces, Rodriguez used Star Wars action figures and had his children don Halloween costumes to film a rehearsal of the planned action. The original three-page scene was expanded into a nine-minute sequence. Rodriguez, a long-time fan of Fett, wanted to ensure Fett's movements and presence were distinct from the Mandalorian's, as he was uncertain about Fett's future appearances in the series at the time.
