Living Waters

The Living Waters served as a site for ceremonies. It was situated within the Mines of Mandalore, which lie beneath the Civic Center of the city of Sundari on the planet Mandalore.

History

The Mines' origins can be traced back to the era of Mandalore the Great, predating the New Republic by millennia. Ancient Mandalorian legends state that the mines once served as a mythosaur's den. Before the [Great Purge of Mandalore](/article/great_purge_of_mandalore], the Living Waters functioned as a ceremonial bathing ground for the royal family, where they immersed themselves in the water. Bo-Katan Kryze reminded Din Djarin of her royal lineage and participation in these ceremonies. The Mandalorian Creed dictates that a Mandalorian apostate who has removed their helmet can seek redemption in the Living Waters. Following the Purge, the Children of the Watch mistakenly believed that the Mines had been destroyed, rendering the Living Waters inaccessible. However, the Mines survived, with the Purge instead causing seismic activity that lowered the Waters' level.

Djarin embarked on a mission to the Living Waters with the goal of redeeming himself and overturning his decree of exile. He ultimately succeeded in bathing in the Waters, but lost consciousness and was rescued by Kryze. Kryze, unbeknownst to Djarin, witnessed a living mythosaur within the Waters. They later returned to the covert to demonstrate Djarin's redemption. Paz Vizsla questioned their claims, asserting that the mines were destroyed during the Purge. However, Djarin presented proof from the Living Waters, which the Armorer confirmed as genuine.

Description

Near the ceremonial chamber's entrance, a weathered metal plaque adorned the wall, bearing an inscription in Mando'a that stated:

Notably, when Bo-Katan Kryze recited the plaque to Din Djarin, she misinterpreted "Mandalore the Great defeated and rode the mythical beast" as "Mandalore the Great is said to have tamed the mythical beast."
