Mission to the Living Waters

During the New Republic Era, specifically in the year 9 ABY, the Mandalorian warrior Din Djarin embarked on a significant mission that would take him to the Mines of Mandalore to find the Living Waters. Djarin's undertaking was motivated by his prior removal of his helmet, an action that branded him as an apostate in the eyes of the Children of the Watch. To atone for this transgression, "the Armorer," a woman and a prominent leader within the sect's, instructed him to seek purification in the Living Waters. To ensure the safety of his journey to Mandalore, he sought the assistance of astromech droid R5-D4 to analyze the planet's atmosphere and confirm its habitability. Once the droid gave the all-clear, Djarin, accompanied by his son Grogu, commenced their descent into the mines, traversing the devastated cityscape of Sundari and its Civic Center.

His initial attempt to reach his destination was cut short when a cyborg scavenger took him prisoner. Consequently, Grogu piloted Din Djarin's N-1 starfighter to Kalevala to enlist the aid of fellow Mandalorian Bo-Katan Kryze. Kryze then accompanied Grogu back to Mandalore, rescued Djarin from his captor, and guided him toward the Living Waters. Upon entering the waters, Djarin unexpectedly plunged into a deep abyss below, which compelled Kryze to execute a daring rescue by diving in after him, using her jetpack to propel them both upward. During their ascent, Kryze spotted a [mythosaur](/article/mythosaur] dwelling within the waters. Djarin, however, remained unconscious and unaware of the creature's presence. With proof of the Living Waters secured, they departed for Kalevala.

While in orbit above Kalevala, they came under attack from pursuing TIE/IN interceptors. After successfully neutralizing several of the interceptors, they ultimately sought refuge at the Tribe's hidden covert. There, both Djarin and Kryze were welcomed into the ranks of the Children of the Watch, their redemption having been achieved through their respective immersions in the Living Waters.
