Grogu's chainmail shirt

Din Grogu's](/article/din_grogu) chainmail shirt, a beskar weave, was fashioned for the Mandalorian foundling by the Armorer. This commission was placed by Din Djarin, the Mandalorian bounty hunter, in the years after the conclusion of the Galactic Civil War. After Luke Skywalker, a Jedi Master, gifted Grogu with the armor, Grogu faced a choice: accept the armor, or Yoda's second lightsaber. This choice symbolized the path of a Jedi, or succumbing to his attachment and returning to Djarin. In the end, Grogu chose the chainmail, opting to return to Din Djarin.

History

A rondel was placed on Grogu's armor.

At the request of Din Djarin, the Mandalorian bounty hunter, the Armorer created Grogu's chainmail shirt in 9 ABY. The shirt was forged using Djarin's beskar spear. Subsequently, it was prepared as a gift for Djarin to deliver to Grogu, the Mandalorian foundling. Upon Djarin's arrival to see Grogu, he was intercepted by Ahsoka Tano, a former Jedi. Tano received the gift and later gave it to Luke Skywalker, a Jedi Master, who presented the armor to Grogu as part of a momentous decision. Grogu then had to decide whether to choose the armor and give in to his attachment, or Yoda's lightsaber and the path of a Jedi. Luke cautioned that it would take Grogu many years to master the Force, and that the difference in lifespans between his species and humans meant he might never see Djarin again. In the end, Grogu selected the chainmail and chose to go back to Din Djarin.

Some time afterward, following a training session, the Armorer crafted a rondel featuring a mudhorn signet for Grogu from spare beskar left by other Mandalorians for foundlings. While sitting by the Forge, Grogu experienced flashbacks of surviving Order 66 with the assistance of Kelleran Beq.
