Mudhorn

Mudhorns were sizable, horned beasts that made their home on Arvala-7. Jawas regarded mudhorn eggs as a culinary treat.

Biology and appearance

The mudhorn's body was covered by thick, wool-like fur that was frequently caked with mud.

Mudhorns possessed a prominent horn, flattened teeth, and lengthy, wooly fur. They reproduced by laying eggs, typically a single egg at a time. This sizable egg was highly prized by Jawas. The egg's exterior had a woolly texture, similar to the mudhorn's skin, and its yolk was yellow inside.

History

In 231 BBY, a mudhorn was held captive within the Lonisa City Zoo. During the Nihil's attack upon the Republic Fair occurring in the city, the zoo's inhabitants managed to escape. The mudhorn from the zoo subsequently charged at Jedi Padawans Ram Jomaram and Lula Talisola, but Talisola employed the Force to cause the creature to stumble. The mudhorn fell to its side, crashing into a storefront and shattering it. The animal then regained its footing and wandered off heavily.

A mudhorn is poised to charge at Din Djarin.

Around 9 ABY, a mudhorn encountered Din Djarin, a Mandalorian bounty hunter, and engaged him in combat. This occurred as Djarin was attempting to acquire an egg from the mudhorn's cave. Ultimately, it was defeated with the assistance of Grogu, the Force-sensitive child. Subsequently, the mudhorn became the signet for the newly formed Mandalorian clan established by Djarin and Grogu.

Behind the scenes

The initial appearance of the mudhorn was in Chapter 2 of The Mandalorian, a Disney+ television series from 2019 created by Jon Favreau and directed by Rick Famuyiwa. It was broadcast on November 15, 2019.
