Mos Eisley

Located on the desert planet Tatooine, Mos Eisley functioned as a spaceport that hosted diverse species of aliens hailing from all corners of the galaxy. It occupied a wide valley within the Great Mesra Plateau, positioned to the north of Anchorhead and to the southeast of the Jundland Wastes. Despite its lack of a central landing complex, the spaceport provided 362 hangars for docking. The urban layout was generally split into two sections: the Old Quarter, arranged in a wheel-like pattern around the water distribution plant, and a newer city center, adjacent to the Mos Eisley prefecture militia base. Chalmun's Spaceport Cantina and the "Community" junk yard were situated on the city's edge.

The Outer Curved Street and Inner Curved Street roughly outlined the Old Quarter, which encompassed Spacers Row and Paradise Road. In addition to the crucial water and power facilities at its core, the Quarter featured numerous small landing bays, shops, and a bustling city market. Later, off-world corporations contributed to the area's improvement by erecting larger structures, such as the Ubrikkian Trade Tower and the Quebe-Luxfause Systems headquarters. The city's prefecture, the Spaceport Traffic Control offices, and the Customs House were all located within this district. The Dowager Queen, an old colony ship wreck, served as a monument near Dune Street.

The new city center extended from Kerner Plaza towards the end of Straight Street, characterized by more recent constructions like the Imperial prefecture base and a Dim-U monastery. Hotels, casinos, and towering complexes built by external companies dominated this section of Mos Eisley.

Following the Separatist Crisis, the decline of podracing prompted many criminals and gangsters to leave Mos Espa, the sport's main hub in northern Tatooine, in search of more lucrative opportunities. A significant number, including the influential Hutt crime lord Jabba Desilijic Tiure, relocated to Mos Eisley, injecting new energy into the city. By the Imperial Era, Mos Eisley had flourished into a relatively affluent town, drawing in outlaws and rogues from across the planet and beyond. Jabba even commissioned the construction of a large townhouse complex in the city's historical core and secured a private viewing box at the local Felvath Kurs Arena. The Desilijic crime syndicate established a strong presence, with Jabba's personal chef, Porcellus, serving as the head chef at the upscale restaurant Court of the Fountain. The presence of Jabba and his criminal organization attracted the attention of corporations like Ubrikkian Industries and Quebe-Luxfause Systems, both of which erected high-rise buildings in the old city center, leading to its revitalization.

It was at Chalmun's Spaceport Cantina, near the Millennium Falcon in Docking Bay 94, that Luke Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi encountered Han Solo and Chewbacca while attempting to reach Alderaan to deliver the Death Star plans to the Rebel Alliance. Simultaneously, Imperial stormtroopers were scouring Mos Eisley in search of R2-D2 and C-3PO, who possessed the stolen Death Star schematics. The cantina also served as the backdrop for the infamous confrontation between Han Solo and Greedo, resulting in Greedo's demise. Ponda Baba and Dr. Cornelius Evazan were also present in Mos Eisley, where Obi-Wan Kenobi severed Ponda Baba's right arm with his lightsaber. Shortly thereafter, Kenobi and Skywalker faced a stormtrooper, whom Kenobi dispatched. The group then fled Mos Eisley aboard the Falcon after a firefight with stormtroopers.

Darth Vader tasked Boba Fett with finding information about the pilot responsible for destroying the Death Star. Fett discovered that the pilot had left Mos Eisley on Han Solo's ship with Kenobi. Unfamiliar with Kenobi, he questioned a group of Rodians, who directed him to Kenobi's residence in the Dune Sea. To ascertain the pilot's identity, Fett visited Chalmun's cantina, knowing Solo frequented it. There, a young moisture farmer revealed Skywalker's name, leading Fett to encounter him at Obi-Wan Kenobi's home.

The city celebrated the destruction of the second Death Star and the demise of the Emperor. Boba Fett later visited to meet with a Pyke boss at the Desert Survey Office.

In 9 ABY, Din Djarin, a bounty hunter, arrived in Mos Eisley seeking repairs for his ship, the Razor Crest. He accepted a job from Toro Calican to hunt Fennec Shand. Toro shot her and left her for dead in the Tatooine desert. Soon after, Boba Fett discovered her and took her to a mod-parlor, where the Modifier saved her life.

Djarin later returned, looking for a Mandalorian to assist him, and traveled to Mos Pelgo, where he met Cobb Vanth. He then came back to Mos Eisley and was introduced to "Frog Lady" by Peli, who suggested she might know where to find Mandalorians. Following the destruction of the Razor Crest, Djarin again sought Peli's help, and she assisted him in modifying an N-1 starfighter.

During the Battle for Mos Espa, Fennec Shand assassinated the Pyke Boss and his associates at the Desert Survey Office located on the outskirts of the town.

During the Imperial Era, Mos Eisley functioned as a prefecture, governed by an Imperial prefect whose office was guarded by stormtroopers in the Old Quarter. The local militia base served as a garrison, securing the city through foot patrols and checkpoints.
