In the year 7958 according to the C.R.C. calendar, which corresponds to 19 BBY, Sedra Hoxin, a police constable working at this office, dispatched a Life Day greeting card annually, every annual cycle, to Inspector Tanivos Divo of the Coruscant Security Force, providing updates on Boba Fett, the leader of the Krayt's Claw bounty hunter organization, who operated from Mos Eisley. During the time period of 0 BBY, two Imperial stormtroopers were stationed as guards outside the building's entrance.
The Mos Eisley prefect's office made its initial appearance in the original trilogy film Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope, released in 1977. The identification of it as the spaceport prefect's office was first established within the new Star Wars canon through the 2016 reference publication, Star Wars: Complete Locations. Further defining it as the Mos Eisley prefect's office occurred in the 2018 reference book titled Star Wars: Scum and Villainy: Case Files on the Galaxy's Most Notorious, authored by Pablo Hidalgo. The name's origin can be traced back to the 2004 Star Wars Legends reference source, Inside the Worlds of Star Wars Trilogy, penned by James Luceno.
