Pirate siege on Nevarro

The attack by pirates on Nevarro unfolded when Gorian Shard, the Pirate King, and his crew, launched an assault against Nevarro during 9 ABY. The struggle culminated in the liberation of Nevarro, achieved when Bo-Katan Kryze alongside the Tribe successfully ousted the pirates from Nevarro.

Background

At some point in time, Greef Karga, a former magistrate with a tarnished reputation, utilized funds acquired from the Pirate King, Gorian Shard, to establish a cantina on Nevarro. Subsequently, he ascended to the position of Guild Master for the Nevarro division of the Bounty Hunters' Guild, collaborating with remnants of what remained of the Empire. However, following his rescue by Grogu, he united with Din Djarin, IG-11, Kuiil, and Cara Dune to overcome the Imperial forces occupying the city. Post-conflict, Greef, reinstated as magistrate, and Cara Dune, now serving as marshal of Nevarro, joined forces to rehabilitate the city. Cara focused on apprehending criminals, while Greef dedicated himself to improving the town, transforming the cantina into a school for children. Nevertheless, an Imperial base persisted, prompting Greef, Cara, Din, and Mythrol to infiltrate and eradicate the base, thereby freeing the planet from Imperial presence. Following the capture of Moff Gideon, Cara Dune was enlisted by the New Republic, leaving Nevarro without a marshal. Nevarro experienced rapid expansion, particularly after mining operations commenced on nearby asteroids. Greef, now holding the title of high magistrate, extended an offer for Din to assume the role of marshal, which he declined.

Gideon had been secretly rescued after his capture by the New Republic. Gideon aimed to reclaim Nevarro discreetly, and after his spy Elia Kane suggested the New Republic would not defend Nevarro, Gideon contacted Gorian Shard to attack Nevarro in an effort to force the planet back under his control. Several members of Gorian Shard's crew traveled to Nevarro and attempted to enter the school, seeking to drink there as they had in the past. However, high magistrate Greef Karga denied their entry, initially offering them a drink in his office. Following their refusal, a shootout erupted between the pirates and Din and Greef, resulting in the death of five pirates, with only Vane surviving to relay a message to his superior. Gorian Shard attempted to eliminate Din as he departed the system, but his attempt failed, resulting in the loss of five more pirates.

The Conflict

The Opening Stages

During a meeting to discuss the trade district, Gorian Shard's Cumulus Class Corsair appeared above the city's populated areas. Shard contacted Greef Karga and threatened him, pointing out that Gideon was no longer there to protect him. Gorian then started firing on the city, targeting the civilians. Greef sent a distress call to Captain Carson Teva and ordered an evacuation. Instead of leaving on his own, Greef led his citizens to a cave away from the city while pirates landed and took over the city. The New Republic refused to get involved on a neutral world, partly because of Elia Kane's influence. Instead, Carson Teva found Din Djarin and sent him Greef's message, hoping he could help. Din managed to convince the Children of the Watch to help Nevarro.

Arrival of Mandalorian Assistance

The Mandalorians entered the system aboard Bo-Katan Kryze's Gauntlet starfighter. Din Djarin's N-1 starfighter flew over the city, drawing the attention of the pirates below. The N-1 starfighter launched an attack against Gorian Shard's Corsair. Gorian Shard prepared his ship and sent out ten Pirate Snub Fighters, led by Vane, to engage the fighter. Din shot down several snub fighters and led the ships away from the city, allowing Bo-Katan Kryze to deploy the troops. Hovering above the city, she deployed team one, made up of five Mandalorians, who surprised and took out five pirates. Team two, made up of four Mandalorians, then entered the city unnoticed. Din drew the fighters further away from the Corsair, giving Bo-Katan a chance to attack the ship herself. Shard called his fighters back to attack the Kom'rk fighter instead. The snub-fighters kept attacking the Kom'rk, but three of them were destroyed from behind by the N-1.

At the same time, team two moved towards the courtyard, where the pirates were setting up an ambush. However, a Kowakian monkey-lizard warned them of the attack, causing team two to take cover. A firefight started, where several pirates trapped team two, pinning them down. Paz Vizsla arrived with team one and took out the pirates from behind, and they moved to the courtyard. The pirates set up a cannon on the roof of Greef's building and opened fire, killing a Mandalorian. A second Mandalorian flew up to attack the cannon, but was killed by the cannon. The cannon kept firing, forcing the Mandalorians back. The Armorer fought her way to the top, killed the pirates above, and took out the cannon. Seeing this, Paz ordered an advance on the pirates. The Mandalorians advanced on the pirates, who ran from the city. The townspeople stopped them, with Paz, team two's leader, and a third Mandalorian joining, forcing the pirates to surrender. A Mandalorian flew up and landed on a snub fighter, using his pistols to destroy the fighter before flying away. The remaining snub fighter, flown by Vane, decided to cut his losses and flew away from the battle. Shard was advised to retreat by his crew, as he was down to one last engine, but instead flew the ship towards the city, ordering the ship to fire on the town below. Before he could cause any more deaths, the N-1 and Kom'rk took out the last engine, causing the Corsair to crash and be destroyed.

The Battle's Conclusion

Following the battle, magistrate Greef Karga gifted land on Nevarro to the Mandalorian, giving them a place to settle. However, the Armorer decided it was time for them to return to Mandalore. The Armorer sent Bo-Katan and Din to bring her old Mandalorian forces to Nevarro so they could retake Mandalore.
